The Frauscher headquarter in Austria is located in St. Marienkirchen, a small community with approximately 1,900 inhabitants. St. Marienkirchen is part of the so-called “Innviertel”, one of the four quarters of Upper Austria. The cultural heritage of this region is predominantly rural and many farms and smaller villages can be seen around Schärding, the capital of the district.

International guests tend to fly to Munich airport in Germany.
Also Vienna airport is also frequently used.

There are also smaller airports in Salzburg and Linz. Both airports offer regular connections to the Frankfurt airport in Germany with a lot of international connections.

Due to the geographic position next to the German border, one of the main Austrian highways (A8) is very close and also the distances between Munich or Vienna are moderate.
Driving in Austria is generally uncomplicated and offers great flexibility. Roads are well maintained, whether you select a highway or a meandering byway. An international drivers license is required.
All Austrian motorways ('Autobahn') and 'S' roads are subject to toll. You must be in possession of a "Vignette" (toll sticker) as you enter Austria. You can purchase 10-day, 2-month and annual vignettes. More information can be found here.

It is very convenient to travel Austria by train. There is a good connection in both directions, Vienna (passing Linz) or Salzburg. The nearest station is in Schärding and train schedules can be easily checked on the ÖBB website.
The ÖBB (state-owned main train provider) offers special tickets for leisure and free-time activities.
The Westbahn (private train provider) offers various discounts too. Please note that the Westbahn only operates between Vienna, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich.

Schärding also offers a local taxi company which operates from Monday - Sunday between 6 am and 8 pm. However, due to limited availability, there may be longer waiting times. Our Office Management team is also happy to support you during opening hours.

Schärding is the next bigger town close to St. Marienkirchen. Most hotels for Frauscher guests are there, as well as restaurants and shopping opportunities. Further information on restaurants, hotels and shops can be found below.

Schärding is approx. 15 minutes away from St. Marienkirchen by car. Unfortunately, public transport is very poor – you can get information on bus connections here. Please be aware, that there is no bus connection at night and only few on weekends. Besides from that, there is a bike track along the river Inn directly to Schärding. It takes around 30 minutes to go there; bikes are available to rent from the Frauscher apartments. Please just get in contact with our Office Management.
Generally, shops in Austria open at around 7.30 am and close between 6 and 7 pm (from Monday to Friday). On a Saturday, shops close at around 6pm. On Sundays and public holidays, all shops, banks and even some restaurants are usually closed.
Note: every second Saturday morning, there is a farmers’ market in the city center of Schärding. Local products, fresh meat and cheese, bread and other homemade traditional goods are sold.

The "Stadtapotheke" pharmacy and "delphin" pharmacy are located next to the city center of Schärding.
Note: most pharmacies are closed around lunchtime (between 12pm und 2pm) and on a Saturday after 12pm. You have to look up, if there is one available for emergency cases. For some special medication, you need a doctors’ prescription.
For minor health issues you can visit the local doctor in St. Marienkirchen, Dr. Johannes Hochhauser. Further information on opening hours as well as contact details can be found here.
There is also a general hospital in Schärding. For more information visit the website of the hospital (available only in German). You should only go to the hospital in case of urgent emergencies. Your first contact should always be the local doctor. You can check via telephone (just dial 141), which doctor is on duty.
Attention: please make sure before going to Austria, which kind of healthcare is covered by your local insurance provider. If necessary, conclude an appropriate travel insurance package.
